Maidstone

It's the last weekend before Christmas, and we escaped the mayhem of it all, away from all the hustle and bustle to spend a day out of London.

Although I'm based SE London, I also fall into the Kent borough which I need to explore more. So when the opportunity came to visit Maidstone, I was happy to make my way down there. We decided to head to the famous Leeds castle, which was only an hour drive for us.

Having a kid on a car journey can be hard at times, especially when they don't sleep and have no patience. So we stopped off to the South Aylesford Retail Park which was on route. The place was great, free wifi for us and M&S food hall to grab some snacks and coffee! We, or should I say my son even got to have a snoop in Smyths Toys.

The place was easy to get to and shop. Also, if you were ever to travel on your own, it's a great stop off for free wifi to catch up on work or social media. As well as these shops there were a few others too, including some home stores.

After our stop off we continued our journey to Leeds Castle which was 15 minutes away. We all loved spending the day in Maidstone, we've never visited before and will definitely be back. The tickets you spend at the castle is valid for a year so worth the price.

Leeds castle is a perfect family day out, not only do they have the castle to explore, we visited the maze, the kid's playground area and managed to see the Falconry display.

As we headed off home we decided to stop off at South Aylesford Retail Park again to do some last minute food shopping and buy more snacks. If you're ever in Maidstone, the retail park is a great stop off point/retail park and a place to grab a cheeky Nando's.
