Spring/Summer Trends 2018

Before people go crazy after their no spend January, I wanted to give a heads up on what to expect in the stores this coming season. Although I love Autumn/Winter and love all the chunky jumpers, coats and boots, I am so over it and looking forward to next season.

In January I get into a style rut, dressing too much for comfort and basically wearing a jumper and jeans most days. The weather doesn't help but looking forward to warmer weather and really excited about the new season trends this Spring.

The catwalk was full of colour and details from feathers, fringing, ruffles and more. As always I've picked out four of my favourite trends this season. These are trends that will last in your wardrobe and not just a one-off trend.

First, COLOUR, probably my favourite trend! I need to embrace this trend more and would love to find a colourful dress for summer.  Bright colours were seen on most runway shows like Marni, MSGM, Versace and many more.

L-R: Tom Ford, Tom Ford, Versace, Versace
L-R: MSGM, MSGM, Zadig & Voltaire, Balenciaga

Secondly, PASTEL COLOURS, nothing new for Spring but the lilac seems to have replaced the pink this year, as seen on the Michael Kors and Victoria Beckham shows.

L-W: Versace, Versace, Celine, Tom Ford
L-W: Michael Kors, Michael Kors, Loewe, Victoria Beckham

Thirdly, PENCIL SKIRTS. I'm looking forward to this trend, I've seen too many short skirts in the past that I wished were a little longer, I also have a few which I'm looking forward to wearing from seasons back. I think this will be the new midi replacing the pleated skirt, not that the pleated skirt is going anywhere!

L-R: Gucci, Victoria Beckham, Fendi, Fendi
L-R: Balenciaga, Max Mara, Max Mara

Fourth trend, TRENCHES, a classic timeless piece that you can take out year after year, great for the transition period.

L-R: Michael Kors, Michael Kors, Loewe, Max Mara
L-R: Bottega, Christian Dior, Nina Ricci, Maison Margiela

Other trends Denim, Sheer, Shorts, Slip dresses, trainers, bum bags, ruffles, fringing, 80's, checks, polka dots, florals and many more. (All images from Vogue )

Remember to have a clear out of your wardrobe as you may have some of these trends already. Update your wardrobe with some items that will fit well into your other clothes and style.

I'm actually surprised how fast January has flown by, happy shopping as always!

New in January!!! Part Two

Continuing on from my last post, I have picked three more of my favourite stores.

Zara: A favourite store with many wardrobe staples as well as fashion pieces too. I purchased the below pleather trousers and they are great for this season, goes with anything and easy to style. The midi dresses below are my favourite, they can be layered with a jumper at the moment and in Spring worm with sandals. You can't go wrong with leopard or polka dots.

Top: Leggings, Leopard Dress, Jumpsuit, hoodie
Bottom: Shirtdress, Polka Dot Dress, Midi Skirt, Bag

Next up is Urban Outfitters, so many casual clothes in one store, sometimes they do great pieces like the below jumpsuit or even the boots which are very similar to the Acne boots.

Top: T-shirt, Jumper, Jacket, Jumpsuit
Bottom: Trousers, Watch, Boots, Trainers

Lastly, Asos, high street prices and includes high street stores like New Look, River Island and Mango.

Top: Jacket, Trousers, Top, Trousers
Bottom: Shoes, T-shirt, Blazer, Dress

Happy Shopping!

New in January!!! Part One

I know we're meant to be making the most out of our wardrobe this month, but I couldn't help have a nose around the shops and online for some things that will take us into Spring/Summer. I will do a post soon on my favourite four trends this coming season too, most of the things I liked below fall into a few trends.

I've only done three high street shops but will do three more hopefully this week.

First up is one of my favourites, Topshop! I literally spent ages in there today, as there were so many new clothes everywhere! You can check my highlights on my Instagram page for some of the below pieces I tried on.

Top: Top, yellow jumper, shirt, orange jumper
Bottom: Striped trousers, pinafore, trousers, jeans

Had to include this one, loved the colour, not sure I would wear it but I think this would be great for a night out or even a wedding. I have the yellow version of this top and it's perfect with jeans. Wear the trousers with trainers and a t-shirt or heels and a cami.

Top, Bottoms

Next is H&M, they always do great pieces at reasonable prices. I popped in, saw a few pieces but didn't get time to try on.

Top: swimsuit, leopard dress, maxi dress, t-shirt
Bottom: shirt, dress, jumper, trousers

Lastly, another firm favourite but more expensive is & Other Stories. I didn't a chance to go to this store so I had a look online.

Top: Dress, jumper, top, blouse
Bottom: trainers, glasses, shoes, skirt

Hope you liked my picks, will be back soon with more.

Making the most out of your wardrobe

And just like that, we're in a new year, happy 2018 to all my readers! Just wanted to say a massive thank you for continuing to read Tee-clutter and I hope it continues to inspire you.

January is usually the time where people spend less money, although shops try to tempt us with their sales, I 'try' to avoid it altogether! However, a bargain that will last in your wardrobe is always a good idea, for example, those perfect fit jeans or cashmere sweater or even those trainers that will take you into Spring/Summer. Whatever it is that catches your eye when shopping, try and think if you actually need it and if you will be wearing it a lot. I recently bought a classic Trench coat in the sale but realised it was an impulse buy, although a staple item I don't think I would wear that particular style much.

Over the years I've invested in items that I can wear often. To help you shop your wardrobe, I have put some street style inspiration together from my wardrobe favourites.

First up, the good old basic tee! You can't go wrong with a basic tee, I usually shop in stores like Cos, Zara or H&M but I recently came across a small business called Ivy (www.ivyt.co.uk), which sells all your wardrobe staple tops you need. I was gifted the grey marl 'Maggie' tee and absolutely love the shape and colour.

The striped top again goes well with everything, try mixing it with prints or just wear tucked into jeans and it will always look effortlessly stylish.

The classic shirts (denim/white/striped) are those items that you could wear in many ways, all wardrobe staples, make the most of them by layering them this winter.

Skirts and dresses in winter can be worn with tights or socks or layered over trousers/jeans. Make more wear out of your 'nice' dresses and skirt.

If you want to make more wear out of your sequin skirts from the festive season wear them with chunky knits and trainers. Layer it up with a bomber or leather jacket to toughen up the look.

I hope all this inspiration has helped you with any wardrobe crisis this month, make the most out of your wardrobe. All images are taken from Pinterest, you can follow me on Pinterest too.
