Carine Roitfeld's collection with Uniqlo

When I think of Carine Roitfeld I always think of her timeless style, most of the time in just a pencil skirt, shirt and heels with her signature smokey eyes. Her style is ageless and effortlessly chic, there is definitely something about the way french women dress.

For those of you that don't know Carine Roitfeld, she is a global fashion icon and is the former editor-in-chief of French Vogue, where most of us know her from. She is now the founder and editor-in-chief of CR fashion book.

Thanks to Uniqlo, dressing like a Parisian couldn't be easier. Uniqlo has collaborated with Carine with a collection of modern style that is 'intended to bring out a woman's inherent beauty with polished cuts and high-quality material'. The new collection is to be released tomorrow and the best thing is, it's at affordable high street prices.

Uniqlo is a one shop place for essentials, and although it may not be fashion forward it does have your wardrobe essentials from your basic tee to a cashmere jumper. This collection has some of the essential items I have talked about in my previous posts, which include the tailored black jacket and tailored trousers

Colour

Colour is something some of us try to steer clear of when it comes to clothes, we feel afraid to stand out and opt for 'safe' colours like black and grey or neutrals.

It's funny because growing up in the 80's I wasn't afraid to wear colour, colour was not only in my wardrobe but everywhere! Everything was colourful and fun, and I'm not just talking about Wacaday with Timmy Mallet. The fashion in the 80s represented bold graphic art inspired pieces and vibrant loud colours. I think everyone should embrace their wardrobe with some statement colours this season, I know I definitely need to.

Check out some of my high street choices below.

Yellow: French Connection Glinka high neck jumper £85, H&M wool hat £19.99, Topshop wool midi kilt skirt £95, John Lewis Joules coast waterproof jacket £79.95
Red: Topshop fold over clutch £25, Mac Cosmetics Dangerous £15.50, ASOS pointed heels £28.00, M&S chevron striped shirt £29.50

Pink: Topshop Wool Coat £175, Peter Jensen gathered pink smock dress £230, & Other Stories Nike rosherun flyknit £95
Blue: & Other Stories Cut out gloves £45, ASOS Chunky jumper £28, ASOS Lace up heels £35, Topshop Fluffy pom bag charm £10

Green: Topshop 70s Floral print shirt £42, H&M silk shirt £49.99, Topshop Snake ankle boots £42, Sunglasses Shop Ray-Ban 2180 £108
Orange: Zara Faux leather trousers £25.99, Accessorize faux fur pom beanie £19.00, French Connection Super silk summer cami £34, Butter London Nail varnish £12

I personally think the best item to get to uplift a plain outfit would be a statement bag. Longchamp has a range of bags this season with many bright colours to choose from and my personal favourites are these cross body bags that will definitely make a statement.

Longchamp Artwalk Cuir crossbody bag £310

Longchamp Le Pliage Héritage Tricolore £415

Ankle Boots

Let's face it, ankle boots are a must and we need them in our lives! When it comes to Autumn/Winter, personally I'm not big on wearing over the knees or knee high boots, basically anything higher than the shin, apart from wellies. But show me an ankle boot any day and I'll be wearing them without fail (flats or mid heels of course!).

End of summer last year I came across the shoe store Shoe Embassy and managed to find the perfect fit Chelsea boots for me. Having small ankles and not suiting many boots I knew I would regret not buying these. Shoe embassy is fairly new only established in 2011, they specialise in footwear that are hand finished in Europe from the 'finest European leather'. The boots I own are so comfortable and after recommending them to a friend, she also has a pair.

Ankle boots look great with most outfits, whether it's to toughen up a girly look or wear casually with jeans, there's definitely one for you this season as the stores are full of it! This Autumn/Winter ankle boots are bigger than ever, suede being a favourite due to the 70s trend, but animal prints, velvet, studded and the classic blacks are huge too. Ankle boots are a must item, not just for this season but a wardrobe essential to keep.

With the high street giving you more choices than ever to pick a style, anything goes this season, here is a round-up of a few of my favourites around the high street.

Cosy Jumpers

One of the things I love about winter is warm cosy jumpers, I love the feel of it against my skin and it's definitely an easy item to throw over any outfit. It looks great over a dress or trousers or even over a shirt when layering, to be honest, it looks good on anything.

Cashmere jumpers are my favourite, and although it can be pricey it's a good investment to have in your wardrobe. I was lucky to purchase one last year in the Zara sale for half the price, but places like H&M and Uniqlo have reasonable prices for cashmere jumpers.

1. & other stories £65, 2. New Look £19.99, 3. H&M £14.99

I am also loving colour block jumpers, great to brighten up plain bottoms or bring some life to an outfit.

1. River Island £32, 2. Hush £99, 3. Zara £29.99

And lastly those fluffy jumpers, very wintery and dare I say in October, very Christmasy.
