Denim Skirt

Image from Pinterest

Year after year there's a denim trend that I end up falling in love with it. This year my most loved item from my 20's, which I wore for clubbing and holidays has made a comeback. Yes, the good old denim skirt. I was umming and ahhing for months, as I wasn't sure I wanted this trend back in my wardrobe, but I did say that about the bomber jacket and that has somehow crept back in.

I prefer wearing shorts than skirts as it's more practical for me, but the mid thigh/knee length denim skirts are growing on me. The below skirt was a perfect fit for me (See here). I would style this with a cami or t-shirt paired with trainers. For an evening look wear heels or ankle boots and tuck in a cami or shirt.

Pretty White Tops

Image from Pinterest

White is an essential colour in our wardrobe, whether it's a white shirt or white t-shirt everyone owns something white. This summer I have seen some gorgeous tops modelled by some lovely Instagram ladies I follow (Mary Seng, Erica Davies and Jacqueline Mikuta to name a few), mostly wearing white feminine detailed designs that look great with anything.

So after seeing many wearing all these lovely tops and then coming across the above Pinterest image, I have been hunting down white tops, pacifically long sleeved.

I went onto the Mango site and was surprised to see loads of white tops, some in the sale and some new. I've just ordered the below at £14.99 but not sure how cropped or how low it will come up, but can imagine pairing it with my denim cut-offs and sandals.

Mango £14.99 (Sale)

Mango £29.99

I posted the dress version of the below top last month under summer dresses, love the openwork panel and tiny pom pom details.

Mango £35.99

This top is gorgeous and similar to an old Self Portrait top, spotted on the lovely Erica Davies the other day. Pair with jeans, skirts or leather trousers. Will also look great layered under a jumper during Winter.

Glamorous £40

Great casual top from Gap below, there's always a Gap voucher code floating around, worth getting the discount off.

GAP £39.95

Make a statement by wearing this top from Revolve. Wear in the evening or casually with denim.

Revolve £45.70

Will leave you with some inspiration from Mary Seng from Happily Grey below:

Playsuits

If you're like me and not into dresses as much, playsuits are probably your best alternative to a one piece outfit for this summer. Playsuits are just a shorter and cuter version of a jumpsuit, surprisingly to me I only own one, reserved for scorching hot days like today or the beach.

If you feel a bit exposed wearing playsuits, cover up by wearing a long shirt like the lovely Alexa Chung has below.

Image from Pinterest

Another option could be a culotte jumpsuit, not short enough to be a playsuit but still great in this heat. I love this grey jersey jumpsuit from Miss Guided, simple design for an everyday casual look.

Miss Guided £15

If however you don't mind showing a bit of leg I've selected a few of my favourites below.

From Top left to right: Topshop £50, ASOS £38, Miss Guided £30
From Bottom left to right: Vila £38, Vila £38, ASOS £38

If you're heading on holiday or want to invest in a playsuit, this one is new in by Lemlem, expensive at £220 but it's a classic design that will last you for years, perfect for the hot weather.

If you're a lover of denim and love your jeans, try a denim jumpsuit, it will give a very relaxed and casual look, great for city breaks.

1. ASOS £26
2. New Look £22.99
3. Dr Denim £31
4. Enza Costa £98.80

Below are some street style images from Pinterest, as you can see playsuits can be for most occasions, from casual, smart casual to evening wear and with whichever footwear you choose.

Thank you for reading and enjoy the rest of the warm week ahead.

The Bandana

I'll be honest, since doing my post on the neckerchiefs back in February, I haven't rocked the look that much. I've worn it a few times on my arm, my bag and hair but probably only once around my neck. I do love a bandana and bought one last month before my holiday, but haven't worn it around my neck until now. This one is from New Look, cotton material for only £3.99, they also do silk and satin too (see below).

One person that I have seen style the bandana to perfection on literally every outfit is Viviana Volpicella, I first came across her on Pinterest, didn't know much about her and only recently started following her on Instagram. Viviana is a freelance Stylist and Fashion Editor, with amazing style. I love how she manages to pull off her red bandana on nearly every outfit.

Below are a few of her other looks where she wears the bandana not only with a suit, with different styles of dresses too. Viviana is one lady who knows how to rock a bandana, showing us it really can go with any outfit.

Sunny Days

Is it me or does the sun make you shop more? Or is it boredom? I think it's a mixture of both for me. Last week I was resting my swollen ankle from an insect bite, this week my son has chicken pox so have been indoors mostly and have been itching (no pun intended) to go shopping, especially as the sun is out. Although I prefer going into a store, trying on the clothes and having the option to have it right now, I enjoy online shopping too. Sometimes you don't always get to see everything in the store but with online, you can take your time and shop anytime of the day. So during this period, I have been adding things to my baskets and figuring out if I need it or not.

The first item which WAS in my basket and now on it's way to me are these jeans. I have been looking for a pair of black jeans and came across these from Topshop and immediately feel in love with them because of the stepped hem. Topshop boutique had a similar pair for £55 but only had limited sizes left (sold out now), this is the exact copy of them for £42. Stepped hems have been popular this year, wear casually with sandals or dress up with heels.

Topshop £42

Next are jumpsuits, comfortable for everyday wear, once you find the one that suits you, you can dress it up or down. I have an old pair from H&M (See my Instagram post) and have worn it so much in the past. I adore these ASOS jumpsuits, couldn't decide which colour so have ordered both. (Left: Rust £38, Right: Black £38) Hoping one suits me more than the other, can't keep both!!

Next up dresses, I did a post a few weeks back on maxi dresses and summer dresses, loving all the summer dresses at the moment. The Zara dress would look lovely with heels for a night out but equally cute with white trainers. These are a maybe and have not purchased.

Topshop £50
Zara £49.99

Denim shorts are my favourite summer staple item, it's casual and goes with anything. The below is a perfect length and colour and although I like these, not sure I need another pair at this moment in time.

GAP £29.95

Tops! I do love tops, it's the best item to buy, it's easy to throw on top of jeans, skirts and under dungarees. Below are a few of my favourites I've seen. Purchased the below h&m stripe top today.

H&M £7.99
New Look £14.99
Pimkie £19.99
Topshop £42

Hope you've liked my some of my favourite summer pieces, some can be worn through to Autumn. Happy shopping!

Maxi Dresses

Images from Pinterest

Maxi dresses are perfect for sunny/humid days and a summer wardrobe staple for sure. It's also an ideal outfit for this unpredictable weather period we are having right now, plus if your not exactly summer ready it will keep those legs and tummy hidden.

Below I'm wearing an old maxi dress from a brand called Dahlia, think I purchased mine from Oxford St Topshop in the downstairs concession department years ago during my pregnancy as it has an elasticated waist which is always a bonus.

Personally, I like to wear day maxis with sandals or trainers, but it's down to what you prefer.

What is on the high street? If you want something casual looking the below maxi's are ideal for weekends, school runs or popping to the shops.

ASOS £12

This loose fit pink maxi could be worn to a summer wedding, add heels and accessories. Wear it during the day with black gladiator sandals or trainers.
