Ruffles SS17

Ruffles are usually associated with evening dresses, but over the years it has become more adaptable to everyday wear. It is an accessory in itself and will draw attention to the outfit than anything surrounding it like jewellery. Ruffles and frills used to remind me of the days of when my mum dressed me in those hideous party frocks, the horror! Well, those days are long gone, it can now be worn easily with jeans for an easy outfit that can take you from day to evening.

Not really into ruffles myself but I like the subtlety of the ruffles on this H&M shirt and how it blends into the shirt. Bought this in store, haven't seen it online yet but found one similar from Asos here.

Other H&M shirts available include these two below. The left top has discreet ruffles at the bottom, the one on the right makes a statement, perfect for an evening out. Apart from jeans, wear with a pencil skirt or under dungarees.

Below are a few other ways to wear this trend other than a top.

1. Asos White dress £65
2. Topshop skirt £39
3. Zara dress £19.99
4. Miss Selfridge shoes £45
5. Topshop trousers £42

If you're looking for smaller ruffles, my option would be to go for the above dress or trousers, Topshop has another pair here which I love too. Even the smallest details make a difference to an outfit. If you're into high heels, the below New Look shoes are gorgeous! If only I did high heels.

New Look £25.99

Another item which I love is this gingham top from Topshop for £29, sold out online but showing some sizes available in the Oxford St store, worth calling your local store to check too. The top also comes in a blue and black colourway, here and here which are in stock.

Hope you managed to get some inspiration for ruffles, happy shopping as always!
